As the part of the Induction Program “Deeksharambh – 21”, the Department of Computer Science conducted orientation session for its first year students of BCA and B.Voc.(ST) programmes on 30th October 2021 in an online mode through Microsoft Teams at 12.00 pm.
The Induction started with the welcome address by Vice-Principal Dr. Rodney D’Silva. In his opening remark, he mentioned that the College and Department conduct various activities throughout the year for the holistic development of the students.
Mr. Sumit Kumar, Head of the Department welcomed and briefed the students about the Department, and the BCA & B.Voc.(Software Technologies) Programmes. He gave the brief insight about the programme structure, curriculum and its conduct. This was followed by an orientation by all the faculty members wherein they introduced themselves and listed the committees and cells of the Department.
- Sweta Verenkar and Ms. Sonali Karapurkar informed the students about the various components of examinations and grading pattern of BCA and BVoc(Software Technologies) Programmes.
- Ms. Sonali also highlighted the importance of attendance and informed them about various student welfare activities conducted by the college and the department.
- College Counselor, Ms. Amba Prabhu oriented the students about the role of mentors and mentees and the counseling facility available on the campus.
- Ms. Rajlaxmi Nair informed the audience about “TechTrendz”, the Departments’ Technology Club which is a hub of all Tech activities.
- Internships and Placements in charge of the Department, Mr. Sameer Patil informed the students about the internships and the conduct of the campus placements by the College. He also oriented the students about the Annual Placement Fair, Webinars and Workshops being conducted on regular basis.
- Information about the certificate courses and the student activities conducted by the Department various clubs and student bodies was informed by Ms. Sneha Dessai
- Ms. Rama Borkar orientated the students about the conduct of the extension (eMadhyam) activities, BitBuzz (inter-higher secondary) competition and the college cultural council activities.
- Mr. Andre Pacheco informed the students about the study tours, field trips, inter-collegiate IT competition – Spectra and the events conducted by the college under IIC and E-Cell.
- Ms. Ankita Naik oriented the students about the importance of MOOCS Courses and demonstrated the registration process for the Coursera courses.
- The Fedena (Campus Management System) orientation was given by the lab instructor Ms. Mervia Andrade.
- The Fedena demonstration was followed by the introduction of the other lab instructors, Visiting and Lecture basis teachers.
Ms. Nishigandha Naik proposed the Vote of Thanks. The program was compeered by Ms. Nishigandha Naik and was attended by 90 FY students.
