Mr. Shekhar Sawant, Course Coordinator, M. Com Department, along with two teachers and 43 students of M.Com visited Mumbai to various financial and educational institutes to give an exposure to actual happenings in various areas of financial and educational field which is also a part of their educational curriculum.
The journey started on 7th DEC 2014. On 8th after getting freshen up at hotel Host In at Andheri we proceeded to visit first at National Stock exchange( NSE) as our per schedule. At NSE three interactive sessions were kept for the students out of which First session was on Brief up on NSE and live trading session shown to the students by Mr Rakesh Nair. He also spoke about the technological changes that have been done in trading over a period of time as well as the changes that will come in future. He showed the trading terminal live in order to make understand the students how the trading is done by different brokers for their client. The other two speakers spoke on Equities, Indices, Mutual funds, Exchange traded funds, initial pubic offer, Equity Derivative, Currency Derivatives and NSE Bond Futures. The students were also shown the various departments of NSE and the activities that they conduct in their respective departments. The visit Concluded at around 1.30pm at NSE.
On the same day we visited (SEBI) Securities Exchange Board of India after the lunch at around 2.30 pm as per the schedule. All the students got a worm welcome from employees of SEBI and were later taken to the conference hall where special seminar on securities market was organized by SEBI for the students. Mrs Shakira of SEBI had an excellent lecture and thereafter interaction with the students on various aspect of securities market and working of SEBI. The day ended at around 5.00pm at SEBI and we proceeded to hotel for check in.
On 9th December 13, 2014 we visited the BSE in morning at around 10.30am. Mr Roy Arahana welcomes the teachers and students and took us on 19th floor of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) where seminar was conducted for the students by the faculties of BSE. Students were also given brief up on courses that are being conducted at the BSE. After the seminar students were shown the various departments of BSE and were informed about the various activities that are conducted in different sections.
On the same day after lunch we visited the RBI Museum where students saw various coins and paper money which were there in existence in India right from ancient period. There after the officer of RBI address the students and explained various activities that are taken up by RBI followed by interaction with the students. Later on a video was shown on evolution of money from ancient time. The second day ended with visit to Phoenix mall.
On 10th we visited we visited ITM-IFS an management institute where information on given on various job oriented courses. Students were shown the campus of ITM and thereafter we proceeded to Fashion Street and to catch the train back to Goa.
