World Mental Health Day is celebrated across the globe on October 10. NSS Unit and Counselling Cell organized an Online session on World Mental Health Day on the theme “Importance of Mental Health Post Pandemic” on 12th October, 2021 from 12.30 to 1.40 pm via Google meet Platform. It aimed at educating students and spreading awareness about the importance of mental health and how one should never neglect their mental health issues.
The Resource Person, Ms Vamakshi Painter, Psychotherapist based in Mumbai, DAV International School, School Counsellor and Psychotherapist in CultFit, spoke and interacted with students and asked them how they dealt with their state of mind during the pandemic and post pandemic. Topics like anger issues and how to control our over thinking were discussed.
She also helped students in knowing how to deal with judgmental behavior, increase one’s self-motivation, self-confidence and respect and love yourself above everything. She questioned students on how they overcome trust issues, how confident they are to communicate with each other and make friends with new people. She then mentioned how students can adjust with the college environment post pandemic and how they can make new friends.87 NSS Volunteers and other students participated in the session.
The speaker asked participants about the problems they faced during pandemic, about their mental and physical health during the COVID-19 pandemic and if they did something productive during the lockdown. Based on the students’ responses, she explained some mental health related issues and gave suggestions to overcome the same. The session was an interactive one and received good participation from students.
