Orientation on Mentoring

Students’ Welfare Cell and the Post-graduate Dept. of Commerce (M.Com) organized an Orientation on Mentoring on 01st October 2021 from 11.15 am in the M.Com classroom. Ms. Amba Prabhu, College Counsellor was the Resource Person for the session.

The teacher incharge for the orientation, Ms. Seema Dharani, Asst Professor in Commerce gave a brief overview of the conduct of the various activities of the Students’ Welfare Cell.

Mr. Ved Borker, student of M.Com Part 1 introduced the College Counsellor, Ms. Amba Prabhu. Ms. Amba Prabhu started the interaction by questioning the students about their prevailing knowledge about a Mentor, students briefly gave their views and the need to have a mentor.

Ms. Prabhu highlighted the requisite to have a mentoring meeting regularly, she also explained the various issues that a student may face, while they are still on their expedition to achieve their desired career.  Proceeding further, Ms. Prabhu explained the need of having a college counsellor on the campus, the matters that a student can discuss with the counsellor as well as with their assigned mentor, she also discussed about the format of conduct of meetings between the mentor and the mentees.

At the end of the session Ms. Prabhu answered all the queries raised by the students. The session ended with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Ms. Neebha Godge, student of M.Com Part 1. 22 participants attended the session.
