The Counselling Cell, Red Ribbon Club and NSS Unit observed World AIDS Day by organizing a Webinar for NSS Volunteers on the topic “Stop AIDS/STDs: Dare to Care”. The session was from 12:00 – 1:00 pm and was attended by 78 Volunteers of the B.Com Programme. The compere for the session was Keagan Silveira, student of TY B.Com and Ms. Senalda Lopes from SY B.Com, introduced the Resource Person for the session Dr. Jagdish Cacodkar, MBBS, MD, Head, Dept. of PSM, GMC. The session began with the Principal, Prof. Prita D Mallya welcoming the virtual gathering.
The Resource Person started the webinar by stating the various causes and symptoms of AIDS. Mr. Kakodkar requested the volunteers to ensure that World AIDS Day is observed with ‘Global Solidarity and Shared Responsibility’. He also gave an insight into the various preventive measures that can be taken for AIDS. He also described the stigma and discrimination that infected persons have to face, which has to stop.
The main objective of this session was to spread awareness among the student community about HIV/AIDS and that it is not curable but preventable. Mr. Keagan Silveira proposed the Vote of Thanks.
