‘Newspaper Analysis’ – Session I

The Post Graduate Department of VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics, Margao organized ‘Newspaper Analysis’ as a part of its departmental activities for the M.Com students on 12th November 2020 at 1.15 pm via the Google Meet platform. The main objective behind having this activity was to encourage students to read newspapers, help them get acquainted with current affairs of the world, demonstrate the educational value of newspapers and to make them aware that regular reading can help them articulate / discuss ideas more fluently and understand happenings in the country and around the world. Regular reading can also help students improve and upgrade their vocabulary, strengthen reading and communication skills and enrich their knowledge on current affairs which will further help them perform better in competitive exams like SET/ NET/ GPSC/ IBPS etc.

A few students from M. Com Part-I – Siddhi Guinde, Isha Kudalkar, Dekasha Odarkar, Saiesh Raikar and Bindu Poojari were identified for this activity. They were asked to refer to newspapers such as The Financial Express, Business Line, and The Economic Times, and present a summary of any article related to current affairs, trade and commerce, banking, the economy etc. Students shared their observations and views on the articles they had selected and also highlighted the important components of the same. This was then followed by a Q&A session and interesting discussion on the same.

35 M.Com students attended the session. The teacher in charge for this activity was Ms. Pooja Shanbhag, Asst. Prof in Commerce, PG Department of Commerce.
