The BBA(Financial Services) Department, in collaboration with ICFAI, IBS, Bangalore, organized a Webinar on 10th October, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the topic Impact of Fintech on Daily Life using Zoom Platform. The Resource person for the Webinar was Dr. Manisha Singh, Dean of Academics at IBS Bangalore.
Dr. Manisha began the session by introducing the concept of Fintech. She gave several examples of Fintech companies in India that have done very well in a short span of time. She also conducted a short quiz to gauge the knowledge of the students about the topic. She informed the students that every second day there is a new Fintech startup in India. The Government is playing a major role in enabling conditions through UPI platform and digitization. The Fintech sector is growing at more than 50% year on year. As per the report from World Economic Forum, 10% of the Global GDP will be stored in Blockchain by 2027. India has the second largest Fintech hub after China.
Dr. Manisha Singh appreciated the interactivity of the students and keenness to learn. Answering the common question asked by the students on career opportunities in the Fintech Sector, Dr. Manisha Singh said that jobs and growth is going to be enormous as there are around 2000 Fintech Startups in India. Several Venture capitalists are ready to invest in Financial Services companies that want to provide services digitally. She ended the session on the note that the advent of cutting-edge technologies coupled with customers’ demand for a safe and user-friendly experience has led banks and financial services companies to adopt Fintech finance technology. Only time will tell how big an impact Fintech will have in the world.
The 90 BBA(FS) students who were present enjoyed the interesting and interactive session on this very different and current topic.
