Webinar on “New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 with reference to Higher Education”

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organised an in-house Webinar on “New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 with reference to Higher Education” on Tuesday, 22nd September, 2020 from 11.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. on the Google Meet platform.

Ms. Samiksha Vengurlekar, Webinar compere, welcomed the attendees. Principal Dr. PritaMallya gave an overview of the NEP, highlighting the origins of the policy. She covered Part I of the Policy, viz. School Education. The IQAC members then made detailed presentations on Part 2 – Higher Education. Parts 3 and 4 were covered by the Vice-Principal, Dr. Rodney D’Silva.

  • Group 1 consisting of IQAC Coordinator Dr. Shami Pai and Dr. Lina Sadekar – spoke on the following aspects of the policy: Quality Universities and Colleges, Institutional Restructuring and Towards Holistic and Multidisciplinary Education.
  • Group 2 – Dr. Edwin Baretto and Dr. Lira Gama dealt with Optimal Learning Environment and Support for Students, Motivated, Energized and Capable Faculty, and Equity and Inclusion in Higher Education.
  • Group 3 – Dr. Maithili Naik and Ms. Sharmila Kunde elaborated upon Teacher Education, Re-imagining Vocational Education, and Catalyzing Quality Academic Research.
  • Group 4 – Ms. Anjali Sajilal and Ms. Snehal Alve dealt with Transforming the Regulatory System of Higher Education, and Effective Governance and Leadership for Higher Education Institutions.
  • Vice Principal, Dr Rodney D’Silva spoke on Part 3 and 4 of the NEP, dealing with implementation.

The presentation on the NEP was followed by a presentation of the compilation of faculty members’ observations and suggestions on NEP 2020. This session was coordinated by Ms. Lizette D’Costa and Ms. Muktali Cuncoliencar.

The Webinar ended with the concluding remarks made by IQAC Coordinator, Dr. Shami Pai and Principal Dr. Prita D. Mallya, followed by the Vote of Thanks by the compere.
