Post -Graduation department of Commerce (M.Com) inaugurated the Debate Club “ THE DEBATORS FLOOR” on 13th August 2016. The Chief Guest for the function was Mr. Yasir Hussain Razzak, Faculty member of department of Economics- M.E.S College, Zuarinagar, Goa. Dr. Sanjay Sawant Dessai, Vice principal and Co-ordinator of M.com programme welcomed the chief Guest, faculty members and the students.
On this occasion The Debators Floor logo was inaugurated at the hands of the chief guest, Yasir Hussain Razzak. Mr. Arun Mohite and Mr. Ainsley Bernard were nominated as Debate representative. The chief guest in his speech emphasized the importance of debate in student’s life. He highlighted the different key aspects of debating such as logical reasoning, knowledge, humour & voice modulation etc and as a platform how students can improve their communication skills, abilities, confidence for all round personality development was also stressed upon by him.
Inauguration function was followed by Debate competition between M.Com part I & M.Com II students on a topic “Banning of mobile phones in educational institution”. For the movement and against the movement teams battled for 30 minutes in three rounds, wherein every member were successfully able to put up their views forward and the debate session was moderated by the Chief Guest. Mr. Arun Mohite & Mr. Ainsley Bernard were selected as best speakers & Mr. Maxwell Pinto & Ms. Gauri Nabar were selected as best Interjector.
