The Committee for Certificate Courses for TY organised a 30-hour Online Certificate Course on “ GST Law and its Compliance” from November 5th to December 17th, 2020 via Google Meet for students of TY B.Com, TY BBA(FS) & M.Com Part II. The Resource Person for the course was CA. Sonam Daivajna, Practicing Chartered Accountant and Director, SDS ACCOSPHERE ADVISORS PVT LTD. 62 students completed the course.
The course was conducted over one or two hour sessions per day. The course covered all the theoretical as well as practical aspects associated with GST. The main topics covered included basic concept of GST and Indirect taxes, earlier tax regime and changes in Indirect tax, non-taxable supplies, Input Credit Utilisation, Supply, Place of Supply, Point of Supply, Composite and Mixed Supply, Composition Levy, Exemption from GST, GST Returns, Online Portal and access to GST portal, to mention a few.
The Resource Person also included and solved some practical problems during the live class. Multiple Choice Questions were asked at the end of each chapter – this helped in continuous evaluation of the students’ progress and understanding. The students were also given real time experience with online access to GST portal as and when required. The students gained a lot of practical knowledge, especially with regards to filing of returns. The students were provided with certificates on successful completion of the online 100 marks test conducted at the end of the course.
