The Department of Computer Science designed a 15-hour online Certificate Course in WordPress for the students of Std. XII of VVM’s Ramacrisna Madeva Salgaocar (RMS) Higher Secondary School. The Department offered this free online certificate course to students of the Computer Techniques stream of the School from May 18-26, 2021, as an outreach activity. The Resource Person was Ms. Sumya Sayed, currently with the Department as Asst. Professor.
The certificate course started at 11.00 am on May 18th with the introduction of resource person by the Head of Department, Mr. Sumit Kumar. He briefly informed the audience about the topic and mentioned its need in site development. Ms. Sumya Sayed explained the below mentioned concepts with actual implementation over the 15 hours of the course.
• Introduction to WordPress, WordPress and Wamp Installation and Configuration
• WordPress terminologies with Demonstration
• Topics covered within WordPress: Pages, Posts, Plugins, Widgets, Themes, Customization, Configuration, Settings, import, export, theme builder, theme editing, Dashboard, setting posts categories, WordPress theme options, Migration, transfers, managing posts and comments, updating plugins, Users-Types & Creation.
• An Overview on how to use WordPress third-party theme editor Elementor
• An Overview on Digital Marketing: Careers, Introduction, scope, Terminologies.
The course was conducted for 2 hours every day over 8 days. On the concluding day, attendees filled an online feedback form and received certificates of completion. 19 students completed the course.
